Surgery Staff

We have a large complement of staff who will try and meet your requirements. Any advice given is strictly to guidelines laid down by the practice. The practice manager is Mrs Karen Clarke.

Reception staff will do their best to help you book suitable appointments and advise you on a wide range of practice-related matters. Of all our staff, the receptionist is the busiest and the most harassed. They do a difficult job very well and are bound by the same rules of confidentiality as our doctors and nurses. Your patience and understanding is appreciated.

Practice Nurses

We have a nurse practitioner, Lesley Waters. A nurse practitioner is an experienced and very senior nurse who has undertaken further studies in order to extend the boundaries of nursing. Lesley's BSc (Hons) in Health Studies incorporated skills of examination techniques and diagnosing. These skills help to reduce the workload of the GPs. Lesley is also a nurse prescriber.

In addition, we have four experienced practice nurses who run various clinics and are available for advice on minor health problems, ear syringing, injections, cervical smears and dressings etc Monday to Friday 08.30 -17.30.

We also have three healthcare assistants who carry out routine tests, such as blood pressure monitoring and other duties, under the supervision of our practice nurses. If you are given an appointment with one of our healthcare assistants please be assured that they are fully qualified to carry out the procedures asked of them.

District nurses, community midwives and health visitors are attached to the practice. We can also put you in touch with a wide range of other professionals.

To contact the district nurse base, telephone 01827 722981. To contact the health visitor, telephone the clinic on 01827 712208.
