Surgery Pod

Want to take greater control over your health?
In order to give you more quality face-to-face time with your doctor we at the The Atherstone Surgery have invested in innovative technology called SurgeryPod. This newly installed equipment is designed to give you greater control and flexibility over your health as well as allowing our medical staff to utilise their expertise more efficiently.

SurgeryPod is a secure, user-friendly system located within the main waiting area in reception which saves clinicians time by empowering patients without clinical supervision, to perform their own checks such as blood pressure, weight, pulse, alcohol usage etc. These results are then instantaneously updated into your patient records and can be immediately viewed by the doctors and nurses.

The Surgery Pod allows you to perform these simple checks at your own convenience, without the need for making an appointment with a clinician. You may wish to do your BP before you go in to see the doctor or nurse or you can come in any time to use it.

What you can do on the Surgery Pod:

  • Take your blood pressure
  • Take your weight and calculate your BMI
  • Enter information regarding your lifestyle i.e. smoking, alcohol, exercise and diet
  • Carry out a series of stress and anxiety questionnaires

It is very simple to use and on screen instructions take you through the process.  However, if you do have difficulty you can ask a member of the reception team who would be happy to help you.

All this information is entered directly into your medical notes.

So in order to help your doctor and to keep an eye on your own health visit the pod today.

If you have a BP reading of 180/100 or above please print off your results from the POD and take it to the reception desk. Our receptionists will book you a face to face appointment that day with a HCA or the on call clinician.

If you have a BP reading of more than 140/90 please print off your results from the POD and take it to the reception desk so our receptionists can highlight to the HCA.

If you have a systolic reading of 80/40 please print off your results from the POD and take it to the reception desk so our receptionists can highlight to the HCA.
